Das Bog
An affectionate, tasteless tribute to 1950’s horror B-movies, Das Bog is director Mick Elliott’s student animation film. Set entirely in a bathroom, the film depicts the road-runner style battle between a man and his own poo.
Shot using a hand-wound 16mm Bolex camera in a suburban garage, the film celebrates traditional claymation in all its glory. Though loosely storyboarded, the narrative was largely improvised during shooting.
Anifact:
The film briefly pays homage to James Cameron’s Terminator 2 in a shot in which the monster rises from the tiled floor like the ‘liquid metal’ T-1000.
Anifact2:
The film was shot during a summer heat-wave causing the models to melt between shots. At the end of each day, the two key characters models were rebuilt and stored in the refrigerator overnight.
